报告题目:Measuring and modeling ozone photochemistry in fresh wildfire smoke

报告摘要:Increasing evidence has suggested that volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including previously little-characterized VOCs, play an important role in urban ozone photochemistry when affected by biomass burning (BB) smoke. However, the emissions and chemistry of BB VOCs are highly uncertain with many species not currently incorporated in operational air quality models. Here I’ll present our group’s recent and ongoing efforts to measure and model the chemical impacts of reactive organic carbon in the western U.S. wildfire smoke. I will first discuss plume-level knowledge learned from recent WE-CAN and FIREX-AQ aircraft campaigns, that revealed a significant amount of‘missing’organic carbon fluxes and reactivity in current global BB emission inventories and chemical transport models (CTMs). I will then discuss the OH chemistry occurring in the near-field of fire plumes that controls the production of ozone and PAN and affects far-field air quality. 

 

专家简介:胡璐,蒙大拿大学化学系长聘副教授。研究方向包括采用外场观测和数值模式相结合的方法,研究挥发性有机化合物的来源和化学转化、城市光化学和野火。同领导了多个地面和飞机的外场观测实验,包括2018WECAN航测和2025年计划的盐湖城夏季臭氧研究Salt Lake City Summer Ozone Study。胡璐是美国国家自然科学基金会“NSF CAREER ”奖获得者2022,现任GEOS-Chem模型指导委员会委员和化学工作组联合主席。
