报告人简介:
Dmitry Kholodnyak received the Diploma of Radio Engineer, the Ph.D. degree in antennas and microwave devices, and the Dr.Sc. degree in engineering, all from Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University (ETU) “LETI”, Russia in 1996, 2012, and 2016, respectively. He has taught at ETU “LETI” since 2000. He is a Full Professor and the Head of the Department of Microwave Electronics. His research interests are focused on microwave applications of metamaterials, high-temperature superconductors, low temperature co-fired ceramics technology, and non-Foster circuits realizing negative inductors and capacitors to design advanced microwave devices with improved performance and enhanced functionality. Dr. Kholodnyak gained 30-year experience in practical design of microwave devices for different applications. He authored over 250 technical publications including 5 monographs and book chapters, 7 tutorial textbooks, 43 refereed journal articles, over 140 international conference papers, and 16 patents. He was a recipient of the 2003 State Prize of the Russian Federation awarded to young scientists for outstanding works in science and technology. Dr. Kholodnyak is a Senior Member of the IEEE MTT-S and AP-S. He is the Vice Chair of the IEEE Russia Northwest Section. He served as the Chair or the MTT-7 Microwave Superconductivity and Quantum Technologies Committee in 2019-2020. He is also a member of the European Microwave Association (EuMA) and the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE), Japan.
报告摘要:Electromagnetic metamaterials and non-Foster elements have been actively studied for over two decades, since they exhibit exotic but potentially useful properties such as negative permittivity and/or permeability in case of metamaterials as well as negative capacitance or inductance of non-Foster elements. Specific dispersion characteristics of metamaterial transmission lines, which are one-dimensional metamaterials, offer numerous advantages for the design of microwave device with miniaturized size, remarkably extended operating bandwidth, multi-band operation possibility etc. In turn, the non-Foster elements allow for compensation of the frequency dispersion of conventional reactances and consequently for broadband matching of electrically small antennas and designing microwave devices with improved frequency characteristics such as immittance inverters and bandpass filters based thereof. Various aspects of design, implementation, and applications of the metamaterial transmission lines and non-Foster elements are considered. Different examples of advanced microwave devices designed by using the dispersion engineering approach are presented.
