报告摘要：110 years ago, Agner Krarup Erlang published the first paper in queueing theory, motivated by telephone calls at a switchboard. However, the classical queueing models were no longer valid models for many types of traffics on the Internet, which rejuvenated queueing theory since 1970s. For the past 15 years, new challenges have emerged, largely from availability and applications of big data. I will illustrate our efforts in a few directions to address modeling, performance, inferences, optimization for large-scaled, multi-dimensional queueing systems with complex dependence structures, unknown components, missing data, delayed information.
报告人简介：
赵以强教授目前是加拿大卡尔顿大学数学与统计学院副院长、终身教授，他1982年毕业于南京气象学院77级数学师资班并留校任教，1990年获加拿大萨斯卡彻温大学博士学位，1990-1992年在加拿大皇后大学加拿大通讯研究所从事博士后研究，1992-2000年在加拿大威尼伯大学数学统计系先后任助理教授和副教授，2000年至今在加拿大卡尔顿大学数学与统计学院任教授。
赵教授主要从事应用概率和随机过程的研究，在国际主流期刊上发表了大量高水平的学术论文，其研究成果产生了重大和深远的影响，被国际同行广泛引用，并得到高度评价。赵教授在应用概率，尤其是排队论及相关领域做出了卓越的贡献，担任包括OR Letters、Queueing Systems、Stochastic Models在内的多个国际重要学术期刊的副主编或编委。
