报告题目:低成本空气质量监测对PM2.5环境暴露预测的贡献

报告摘要:Regulatory monitoring networks are often too sparse to support community-scale PM2.5 exposure assessment, while emerging low-cost monitors have the potential to fill in the gaps. To date, no study has been conducted to utilize the low-cost measurements to improve the satellite-based PM2.5 prediction. Imperial County in California is a rural region with sparse Air Quality System (AQS) monitors and a community-operated low-cost network. This case study evaluated the contribution of IVAN measurements to PM2.5 prediction based on satellite aerosol optical depth (AOD). We compared random forest models to estimate daily PM2.5 concentrations at 1-km resolution using three different PM2.5 measurement datasets. The results showed that the integration of low-cost measurements is an effective way to significantly improve the quality of PM2.5 prediction. The low-cost sensor measurements also contributed to more robust and reasonable PM2.5 patterns. It is important to keep the accurate but sparse AQS measurements in the prediction model. Additionally, the uncertainty in the calibrated IVAN measurements still caused apparent prediction outliers, highlighting the need of more effective calibrations to reduce the random variances in the low-cost measurements.

报告人简介:刘阳,2004年获得哈佛大学环境科学与工程博士学位;2009年起,在Emory 大学罗林斯公共卫生学院任教,现为环境健康系副教授(终身教授)。主要研究方向为卫星气溶胶遥感反演和产品设计;卫星遥感在空气污染暴露评价及健康影响研究中的应用;气候变化对人群健康的潜在影响;GIS与空间统计学。曾任美国国家疾控中心(USCDC)高级客座研究员(2009-2012),复旦大学公共卫生学院高级访问学者(2014-2016),美国环保署(USEPA)东南部空气污染与流行病学研究中心(SCAPE)成员(2011-2016)。现任美国宇航局(NASA)多角度气溶胶成像仪(EVI-3 MAIA)和多角度成像光谱辐射仪 (Terra MISR) 科研部主要成员、 Aura 卫星科学部成员,NASA地学部空气污染应用科学计划(AQAST)和公共卫生应用科学计划(HAQAST)主任成员,清华大学客座教授,中国疾控中心客座教授,上海市东方学者。
