Brief Introduction: The film “My Fair Lady” was released in 1964 to great success. It is based on an earlier stage play “Pygmalion” by the famous socialist playwright George Bernard Shaw and is set in London during the height of the British empire.

A poor working class flower seller Eliza Dolittle (played by Audrey Hepburn) attempts to improve herself by taking speech lessons from the arrogant Professor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison).

The result is a fascinating study of the English language and the British social class system.

Jacob Daniels is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand and has been teaching English in China for more than 10 years. He has been Lecturer at NUIST since 2014.
